My 2009 portfolio is now available for download! Unfortunately, I had to leave out most of the client work that I've developed over the last year since much of it hasn't been released. I've been lucky to design some new product lines, apparel graphics and blogs and I'll be posting details on all of these as soon as they're out!
Some clients that I've worked with include Virgin Records, Forever 21, American Eagle, New Line Cinema, Skullcandy, Smith Optics, HP, Lucy Activewear, MercyCorps Phoenix Fund, Coilhouse Magazine, Microsoft and Gala Darling.
I am currently available for projects including Logos, Corporate Identity, Editorial Design, Apparel Graphics, Mixed Media Collage, Packaging and Poster Design. Rates vary depending on the amount of hours and scale of the project, so please email me at Nubby @ Nubbytwiglet.com for a quote.
Thanks! Nubby

I updated my 2009 corporate identity on Sunday night just in time for the deck I put together. Presented to one of my fave clothing brands on conf. call earlier today, looks promising.
Just got these Jeffrey Campbell shoes; they totally have that cool Ann D. vibe.

I met up with Gala Darling in Hollywood and we went to Disneyland! We also shared our oversized bottles of Smirnoff Ice with Zoe & Lumi in our hotel room. Haha.
I've been to Disney World twice, but this was my first trip to Disneyland. Space Mountain was by far the best ride. I was terrified of losing my purse (you know, it's not easy being thrown around on a roller coaster in the pitch dark) but instead, Gala's mouse ears flew off on the much more tame spinning teacups.
I was able to track down a black Moleskine Helvetica notebook and it's so beyond perfect. No need to write in it, that would be a crime.
The week before Disneyland, I went to Hawaii. Spent six glorious days in Honolulu, walking along the beach and even making time to visit the North Shore. By the last few days, my arms were so sunburned that I was wearing long sleeves.
It was in Hawaii that I saw a black swan for the first time. Amazing!!!
I love the mix of both city landscapes and the beach that encompass Honolulu. It's a thoroughly modern city, but the beaches make everyone slow down and enjoy the atmosphere.
I bought this phone even though I don't have a landline. Just because.
xoxo + until next time, Nubby

A few months ago, I worked on a type layout that was later laser-etched into a wood presentation box. It was for a Nemo client and is one of my favorite jobs to date.

Vegas Highlights
 1. Wandering through the Mirage at 2 a.m., trying on white tiger masks. RAWWWR!
 2. Frequenting all-you-can-eat buffets and mixing a minimum of four nationalities of food.
 3. Receiving V.I.P. access to private parties at clubs with crazy chandeliers.
 4. Running into a guy wearing a bear suit in the middle of a casino at 3 a.m.
5. Soaking up the sun by our hotel pool (and sneaking back in later to take photos)!
 6. Lights & Glitz! Everywhere!
 7. Posing next to Kiss (okay, their costumes!) at the Hard Rock Hotel.
Honorable mentions: We consulted a free magazine with Criss Angel on the cover many times and christened it our Criss Angel Bible; limousines; pole dances by drunk monorail passengers; California Pizza Kitchen; massive red slushy drinks at the pool; a cop guarding the all-you-can-eat buffet (!), the NASCAR café, walking miles in ridiculous heels; disco naps; enthusiastic hotel staff and relaxing by the pool after a long weekend of blogging seminars!

Gala Darling and I will be throwing a joint party at a daytime shindig in Central Park, complete with cupcakes! Come join us this Saturday, September 13th in Strawberry Fields!!! Gala will be 25 and I'll be turning 27 a day later!
When I met up with Gala in New York back in July, we joked about being 'Virgo soul mates.' When I told our mutual friend Star about it, she had the brilliant idea to draw our birthday invite as a wedding invitation! I'm totally channeling Steve Perry / Michael Jackson / Mickey Mouse. And Gala doesn't look so amused at the prospect of being my bride. Haha!

All I can think about at the moment is the birthday gathering that Gala and I are going to have on Sept. 13th in Central Park with all of our closest friends including Bianca (who has a knock-out look already planned out) and Star! Cue cupcakes and a possible wedding! SO GOOD.

So, I'm currently obsessed with crazy futuristic shoes. These Dries Van Notens get the best reactions. It's either "OMG, those are soooo ugly!" or "I reallllly want those!" Either way, they make me taller and I bet that nurses of the future will be strutting down hospital hallways in them! The Dries also work well with lederhosen (if you're into that sort of thing):

Last week, Lee and I were lamenting that our deer head (on loan from my brother!) was looking a little sad. After adding this scarf, he just seems more regal and happy, don't you think?

In case you were wondering, my closet is super organized, color coordinated and Virgo-tastic!! Don't worry, I won't leave you hanging; there's some helpful tips also!
This is a poster I did for my friend Seze's club night in Brooklyn, Kiss & Tell. It's a two color screen print. The whites sold out, but there are a few natural ones left. More info can be found here.

When I was in NY in July, Gilda and I met the fabulous Loulou and bought up some of her bows. So amazing!
Other news: I have a big solo show (a retrospective of sorts) coming up at Nemo Design in PDX this October! More birthday and art show details coming soon! :)
Till next time!
Love, Nubs

Greetings, Livejounalers (is that a word? haha),
I've been settling back into Portland after brief stops in New York and Phoenix a few weeks back. Here's what I've been up to in the meantime....
1. Apartment Therapy just did an article about my art last week!
2. I expanded my collection of ridiculous non-prescription glasses:

3. Here's one of my newer pieces that I never posted here. My solo show comes down in a few days:

All Mixed Up, 2008 Collage and resin on wood 12 x 14 inches
4. There was a big catered lunch at Nemo recently and I got seated at the 'vegetarian table.' We dined on three courses of vegetables while the carnivores gnawed on platefuls of freshly grilled meat.

5. These are the shirts I designed for the employees- my art director provided me with the most one-liners and inside jokes ever....

Uh....my 'mug shot' is posted in the Nemo hallway along with a bunch of other new employees. We were told to look as unflattering as possible. It was fun.

Until next time! Nubs

Uh, I met Gala Darling last Friday, we immediately hit it off and now we're getting married (shhh, don't tell Lee)! Yesterday morning, I flew from New York City to Phoenix. It's a slight shock going from the never-ending city to the never-ending desert. I go home tomorrow night, then back to the day job. At least the day job is cool! So much work awaits.

Work ittttttttttt. Gala and I decided to have a dance-off in her living room on Saturday night. Yes, I am wearing her Mickey ears, and yes, they're backwards!
images and animation: galadarling.com
The last three days in a nutshell:
I had a feast that resembled the last supper with Gala Darling, we went to an insane warehouse party where people were guzzling absinthe and climbing ladders to rooftop hideaways, Gala convinced me to climb into a bizarre homemade tree house with a dirty mattress (ewww!), I met Gilda who has amazing clothes (and the best stories!), there was a horrifying toilet incident that took FOUR Isreali guys to clear (in the meantime, Bianca and I were left on the front stoop while the guys told us that they were working on a 'science project!'), Molly Crabapple drew a portrait of Gala, Gilda and I in the middle of a 20's themed jazz club party last night (scan to come soon) and Voltaire serenaded me with a Journey song and impressed Gilda by knowing all the lyrics to the Singaporian national anthem! Last night was a Morrisey / Smiths tribute at Sway and I have a video of our cab driver speed racing through the city at 4 a.m.! Links soon!

Recent things:
New very 80s glasses (non-prescription, just for fun!)
New hangtags- still need to be hole-punched! I'm aiming to have some new merch ready to go for my July show
I just got my graphic design portfolio; 11 x 17 inches and in white acrylic! It feels so good to have a real portfolio of my own for the first time. I also just did my first PDF portfolio. It's a month of firsts. ;)
A few days ago, I hung out with my grandpa. Here we are in a parking lot. He ONLY wears cowboy boots, even if he's doing constuction or chopping wood all day! Totally awesome.
+ The Art of Networking
+ Spring 2008 Want List!
+ I'm now blogging for Nemo's new blog, Social Cache (or, Social Cash if you're all about the bling!) So far it's just Dave Allen and I holding down the fort, but I'm sure there will be more contributors soon!

I worked all weekend on comps for a movie poster (big premiere looming)-- hopefully something good comes of it. Also juggling many many freelance jobs while finishing my last three weeks of school. Racing against time to get my real life portfolio together. Just started assisting on my first big national ad campaign at the internship. Planning a summer getaway (to meet some cute Virgo girls)! I'm up to 18 pieces for my July solo show-- aiming for 25 and trying not to give in to self doubt!
There are four pieces sitting in the basement, waiting for their glossy coating of resin; here are two that I recently finished:
A, 2008 Collage, ink, resin on wood 13.5 x 9.5 inches
Midnight Powder, 2008 Collage, ink, resin on wood 13.5 x 9.5 inches
There was an art opening at Nemo last week and Smokey volunteered to wear a bunny suit and pour wine for the patrons. We're kind of crazy when it comes to costumes, but whereas I like uniforms (nurse, stewardess, schoolgirl), he prefers wigs, creepy sunglasses and fake mustaches. Nothing fazes him. Can you tell that we're related?!!
My Ask Nubby column gets some totally random questions sometimes. Someone asked me what eyeshadow I use, so I covered it here:

Just got a new digital camera (more on that later!) and have been using it constantly. By the end of the week, I have loads of random snapshots that don't really fit in with the blog articles, so I've started compiling them in a Friday post called The Week in Pictures. And, they're so not glamorous!!
 Waiting for the bus!
Unstuffing a backpacks after a shoot in the photo studio!
Until next time,

Many months ago, I was asked by Gala Darling to whip up some designs for her online shop, iCiNG Treats. It's been so hard keeping my mouth shut all this time, but they're finally live!
1. Bunnyhead: I made a pinup-style design because I know you all secretly want Gala in a bikini top splashed across your chest! I also snuck in some Helvetica Neue Ultra Light for all you typophiles.
2. Crowning: More bold in person, this design takes a second to read, which is the point (this also comes on a black shirt too). Not everyone passing you by on the street is cool enough to know about our favorite fashion & advice blog!
Thanks to Gala for supporting independent artists and inspiring us along the way!
